Mountain America Credit Union takes strong measures to ensure the security and safety of your account and our online banking system. We use state-of-the-art firewalls and other security software, including the strongest encryption technology available.
Your online security has always been a top priority. That’s why we implemented an additional layer of armor to protect you from fraud.
If you suspect that you have received a phishing, fraudulent or suspicious e-mail, or you see a Web site representing itself as being sent from MACU, please notify us immediately at:
onlinefraud@macu.org.
We will never contact you by e-mail, mail, or phone asking for confidential information. We already have your social security number, PIN, credit card number, account number, name, address, and birthday.
If something in a correspondence from Mountain America Credit Union does not seem "right," go with your gut feeling. Do not respond to any suspicious correspondence. Immediately contact your nearest branch or our service center at 1-800-748-4302.
- Do directly type Web addresses into your browser.
- Do make sure the Web site is securely encrypted when entering personal information (the URL will often begin with “https” and a lock icon will appear in the lower right corner of your browser).
- Do log out of a Web site and close the browser when your session is complete.
- Do use, and regularly update, firewall and anti-virus software.
- Do regularly update your operating system, Web browser, e-mail program and other major software.
- Do use complex passwords that are at least 8 characters long and include numbers, letters and symbols.
- Do change your passwords every few months.
- Do close windows containing pop-up ads or unexpected warnings by clicking on the “X” button in the upper right corner of that window.
- Don't reply to spam e-mails.
- Don't click on links inside spam e-mails or on unfamiliar Web sites.
- Don't open an e-mail attachment, even from friends and family, unless you were expecting it.
- Don't set your e-mail program to automatically open attachments.
- Don't reply to e-mails requesting financial or personal information.
- Don't submit any data that is irrelevant for the purposes for which it is being collected (e.g., a credit card number if you're not making a purchase).
- Don't call phone numbers listed in spam e-mails.
- Don't enter personal information on a Web site if it is not securely encrypted.
- Don't browse the Internet or download files without using firewall and antivirus software.
- Don't neglect to update your operating system, Web browser, e-mail program and other major software.
- Don't use simple and identical passwords, and don't use common information like your name, birth date, a family member's name, an address, etc.
- Don't write down your password and leave it near your computer.
- Don't give your password to anyone.
- Don't reuse passwords.
- Don't try to close pop-up ads or unexpected warnings by clicking within the window.
