As a teacher and mentor at Neighborhood Home, a local, non-profit daycare for children and adults, Nate Manuel is part of a wonderful staff that focuses on kindness and inclusion. He loves coming into work every day, sharing cultural traditions and being of service to his students.

In the fall of 2022, Nate got a devastating diagnosis—Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, or ALS—an illness that weakens the muscles and eventually becomes terminal. But Nate doesn’t let it stop him! He still finds a way to be positive and show up for those who rely on him.

Unfortunately, a diagnosis like this means watching the medical bills pile up. Nate’s coworkers were eager to assist so they submitted his story to the Dream Team.

The Dream Team came through! Nate was showered with gifts—including something to go toward those treatment bills—and was beyond thankful.

Watch the video above to see this heartwarming surprise for one of the best teachers in the world!
