FOX 13 Dream Team Delivers Unexpected Boost to Tri-City Exchange Food Pantry
Each week, thousands of families arrive at the Tri-City Exchange food pantry with empty carts and utility wagons, hoping to fill them with nutritious food for their household. Founder Mike Larson started the food pantry four years ago after hearing a distressing realization from his wife.
"My wife came to me and said, 'There's no food at the grocery stores,'” explained Mike. “So I started to look into it." After some research, he believed it would be easier for him to help feed the masses than to help on an individual basis. “We didn't know what we were doing. We just wanted to help."
As an engineer and entrepreneur, Mike built a business that provides armored vehicles for law enforcement and the military. Establishing this operation over the years has helped him develop new business and leadership skills to run another successful venture, Tri-City Exchange. He has stepped back from the daily functions with armored vehicles to fully dedicate himself to helping those in need at the food pantry.
After government grants started to dry up to help support the food pantry, Mike’s business suffered but he continued to give his all to help his neighbors. Mountain America Credit Union, Master AutoTech and the FOX 13 Dream Team presented Mike with a special delivery to help the food pantry that has made a difference in so many famiies' lives in the Ogden, Utah, area!
