The Miracle Makers Surprise High School Math Teacher

Kelly Burkhart marvels at how much her husband, Andrew, continually serves and gives to others around him. Kelly had to leave the workforce after their son was born with special needs Since then, Andrew has been the sole breadwinner for the family, working as a math teacher at Hamilton High School in Chandler, AZ.

For Andrew, commuting to and from work has been difficult in his 1998 Izusu Hombre—a hand-me-down from his late father. The truck’s screeching doors and constant need for repair is a concern for the family as they are often juggling their finances to come up with the money to fix one issue or another.

With Kelly’s help, The Mountain America Miracle Makers and Hamilton High School organized a super-secret surprise for Andrew. Under the guise of attending an anti-bullying assembly with the entire school, the Miracle Makers took over the assembly and, instead, presented Andrew with a new vehicle to help his commute go a little smoother each day.

“To see someone bless him and recognize what I see in him is beautiful, and we’re so grateful,” said Kelly.
