Miracle Makers Beat the Heat

The blistering heat of Arizona summers can be cruel and unbearable. Dave Knoer has experienced this first-hand. When the air conditioning in his home broke down in June, he tried to fix it, spending $900 of his own money. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t enough to get the job done and he was forced to move in with his son, Dustin, and his family.

That’s when Dustin decided to share his father’s story with Miracle Makers.

Dave has always lived his life trying to help others. After putting in a day’s work at the Red Cross, he would go home and work hard as a single father, raising his three boys.

“We had more fun than we should’ve been allowed to have,” Dave said standing outside of his son’s home. “What I couldn’t give them in possessions, I tried to give them in experiences.”

Although Dave loves his son’s family—and they love him—Dustin wants his father to have his independence back. Dave also suffers from multiple health issues and, in this age of COVID-19, the family fears putting him at risk.

“No one deserves this more than he does,” Dustin said about his father. ”Because of what he’s given back over the years.”

Mountain America Credit Union and the Miracle Makers heard Dustin’s story, and immediately wanted to help. We partnered with Sepmer Fi Heating and Cooling to get a new AC unit installed. Not only that, Mountain America and the owner and president of Semper Fi, Jesse Keenan, combined forces for another surprise—let’s just say Dave is no longer $900 in the hole!
