Caring for the communities we serve
Community Involvement & Support
People helping people
At Mountain America, enacting positive change within our reach is a top priority. Serving in the areas we operate is a core part of who we are.
We strive to care for the world around us through the Mountain America Foundation by organizing annual service initiatives, partnering with charitable organizations, supporting the education of our youth, reducing our impact on the environment and donating funds to worthy causes.

Community highlights
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) Council
Our DEIB program aims to instill a sense of belonging for every employee at Mountain America by focusing on creating a more diverse, equitable and inclusive organization. They work to recommend programs, policies and practices that lead toward continuous improvement and a safe, thriving culture.
Swing for the Kids
A beloved tradition since 2004, the Swing for the Kids Challenge is a day of golf and giving, raising funds for Primary Children’s Hospital. Thanks to the generous support of our business partners and the community, we have raised over $2 million to help Primary Children’s fulfill their mission of providing specialized medical care to children in an environment of love and concern.
2023 Make-A-Wish
In 2023, Mountain America matched employee donations to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The generous contributions from Mountain America team members helped raise $22,000 to grant wishes for children with critical illnesses.
Ronald McDonald House
Mountain America Credit Union has a wonderful partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). This organization supports families with sick children when it's needed most and helps them access the medical care and resources they need to heal.
Month of Caring
We know giving back extends beyond charitable donations. The real impact comes when team members get out and serve the community. Each September, team members participate in the Month of Caring, receiving up to four hours of paid time off to volunteer for the community charity of their choice.
Examples of service activities in 2023 include making pet toys and treats at the Humane Society, creating holiday decorations for Make-A-Wish, planting tulips at Thanksgiving Point gardens, and helping with events at Utah’s Hogle Zoo.
Hale Centre Theatre
Hale Centre Theatre at the Mountain America Performing Arts Centre in Sandy, Utah, opened its doors in November 2017. This new theatre was a much-needed facility, as Hale Centre Theatre had outgrown two locations. The Sandy location has two stages and plenty of attached, free parking.
Mountain America has been the Season Sponsor at Hale Centre Theatre in Sandy since its opening, which helps cover operating and overhead expenses so tickets to this world-class theatre remain affordable. Mountain America’s sponsorship also funds the Student Matinee Program, providing complimentary tickets to students.
Operation Warm
Mountain America has been supporting Operation Warm since 2019. Each year, we match employee donations to provide new coats and shoes to kids in need in Utah, Idaho and Montana.
Pay It Forward
If you’ve ever seen someone in need and thought “I wish I could help more,” then you understand the driving force behind KUTV News and Mountain America’s Pay It Forward program. To date, the program has given nearly $400,000 to deserving causes throughout Utah and Idaho.
Annual Employee Match
Each year, Mountain America employees can donate to select nonprofit partners, and the credit union matches those donations. This is a great way to engage team members in Mountain America's charitable efforts and multiply our impact. This annual giving drive has supported local food banks, Operation Warm and Make-A-Wish.
Educator Grants
Since 2016, Mountain America has awarded grants to support learning-based projects for school leaders in our communities.
“Mountain America is proud to support educators,” said Chief Marketing Officer Sharon Cook. “Mountain America educator grants help teachers provide essential learning tools and get creative in their classrooms.”
Elevate Scholarship
Mountain America will award $300,000 each school year among 120 graduating seniors for contributing to their communities and embodying our core values.
Humane Society
Mountain America supports the Utah Humane Society by sponsoring a “Pet of the Week” and helping them find their forever home through our social media platforms and an adoption billboard. Employees also volunteer at the Humane Society each year during our Month of Caring. In 2023, our teams assisted in making dog toys and treats and spent time caring for the cats at local shelters.
