Trailer loan FAQs

How do I get the best financing for trailer loans?

When financing a new or used trailer, we look at the make, model, age and condition of the trailer, as well as your credit worthiness, to determine the best financing options for you. To get the best trailer financing terms possible, make sure you have good credit, a low debt-to-income ratio and a sufficient down payment.

What types of utility trailers do you finance?

We finance a wide range of utility trailers for hauling both business and personal equipment. The most popular utility trailers we finance are enclosed trailers, flatbed trailers, landscape trailers and open-air trailers.

How long is the financing term for a new trailer?

The average loan term for trailers depends on the amount financed and the trailer's age but typically ranges between 60 to 180 months (5 to 15 years). A 60- to 72-month loan term is a smart financial decision, but a longer term will give you more flexibility on your monthly payment amount.

Most lenders won’t offer trailer financing for less than $7,500. Some may even require a minimum loan of $25,000.

Can you finance a truck and trailer together?

If you want to finance a truck and trailer, you’ll need to get a separate loan for each. You’ll need a Mountain America auto loan for the truck and a trailer or RV loan for the trailer. Luckily for you, we offer a 0.25% loan rate discount on all auto and RV loans with your MyStyle Checking account.

Do I need registration for my trailer?

Yes, for Mountain America Credit Union to approve a trailer loan, you need to have the trailer registered and taxes paid. Proof of insurance may also be required.
