Contact us immediately if you believe you’ve been the victim of identity theft or if you receive a communication from Mountain America that appears suspicious.
Additional steps you can take:
- Contact Mountain America at 1-800-748-4302 and have a code word added to your account.
- Place a fraud alert on your credit report through one of the three credit reporting bureaus.
- Request a copy of your credit report from the three major credit reporting bureaus. Check each credit report carefully. Look for any suspicious activity as it relates to accounts, charges, inquiries or delinquencies.
- Report any discrepancies on your credit report to the credit reporting bureaus: www.equifax.com, www.transunion.com, www.experian.com.

If you have received what appears to be a phishing email from someone pretending to be a Mountain America employee, do not respond to the request. Instead, forward the email as an attachment to phishing@macu.com, and we will take appropriate action.
Take proactive steps
Minimize the risk of fraud by doing the following:
Confirm your contact information
Make sure your phone number, email and physical address is accurate in your online branch profile.
Monitor your account
Get text or email alerts based on transactions, balance limits, approvals and more. Visit the Alerts tab in the online branch or talk to a service representative.
Notify Mountain America of travel plans
Set up travel notifications through our mobile app. Select Card Manager and then Scheduled Travels.
Utilize ID theft protection
Safeguard your personal information with identity theft protection services from Mountain America and EZ Shield.
Use complex and unique passwords
Avoid using common data as your password: birthdates, family names or single words. Instead, use phrases with a mixture of upper and lowercase letters, numbers and symbols. Avoid using the same password for multiple websites.
