Additional steps to take

  • Visit a Mountain America branch or call 1-800-748-4302 to add a code word to your account.
  • Review your credit report through Credit Score Plus in online banking or our mobile app. Inspect your report carefully for any suspicious activity as it relates to accounts, charges, inquiries or delinquencies.
  • Place a fraud alert on your credit report and notify the credit bureaus of any discrepancies at equifax.com, transunion.com and experian.com.
  • Turn on CreditLock (under Security & Settings in digital banking) to lock your Experian credit report and get real-time email alerts on unauthorized activity.
  • Carefully review your transaction history for any unauthorized or unrecognized transactions. If you find a charge you would like to dispute, promptly file a claim through online banking or our mobile app.

Watch out for phishing!

Do not respond to suspicious emails or text messages that contain links or ask for personal information—they might be phishing. If you have received what appears to be a phishing email or text, do not reply to the message or click on any links. Instead, forward emails as an attachment to phishing@macu.com and forward texts to 385-336-0337. We will review the messages and take appropriate action.

Make sure your phone number, email and physical address is accurate in your digital banking profile.

Sign up for alerts

Monitor your accounts 24/7 by creating customized text, email and push notifications based on balances, approvals, transactions and more.*

Notify Mountain America of travel plans

Set up travel notices through online banking or our mobile app. From the main menu, choose Accounts and select Card Manager. Next, find the card you will be using for your trip and click Travel Notices.

Utilize ID theft protection and monitoring

With MyStyle® Checking, you'll receive identity protection, ID theft assistance and monitoring for suspicious activity on over 1,000 databases.

Use complex and unique passwords

Avoid using birthdates, pet names, phone numbers, family names or single words. Instead, use phrases with a mixture of upper and lowercase letters, numbers and symbols—and make sure to use a minimum of eight characters. Avoid using the same password for multiple websites.
