When an Auto Loan Means So Much More | My Member Story
Deb’s story begins with being at the right place at the right time to get the help she needed. And her daughter benefitted too!
Have you ever found yourself knowing you’re in the right place at the right time? That’s what happened to Deb Jones when she walked into a Mountain America Credit Union branch in Idaho.
Deb was helping her daughter, Sara, buy a vehicle. It was very important to Sara to handle the payment but she needed help with the loan because she wasn’t old enough to secure funding by herself.* The dealership recommended they look at financing options through Mountain America. Deb and Sara decided to give it a try and stopped into a nearby branch. Once they stepped inside, they took a seat and waited to speak to a loan officer. What Deb saw was, in her experience, out of the ordinary.
It wasn’t just people making financial transactions—Deb saw employees really listening and engaging with the members. When it was their turn, they were the recipients of that same attentive, helpful approach as Deb and the loan officer discussed options for Sara’s SUV. It was during that first visit that Deb realized she was in the right place.
In the end, Deb was able to secure the loan for Sara’s SUV and make her daughter deliriously happy! And thanks to the loan officer asking about the financing terms on Deb’s other loans, she was also able to save a significant amount of interest on her own black Ford F-250 loan by moving it over to Mountain America.
As a life and career coach, Deb values connecting with people and helping them achieve their goals. Through this and other experiences with Mountain America, one thing was evident—the people at Mountain America truly care about guiding members forward on the best financial path.
Teaching your child good financial habits is one thing but getting a front row seat to actually see this happening is another. Because it was important to Sara to pay for her own vehicle, Deb had always prioritized teaching her daughter about money and providing learning opportunities along the way. That’s why this experience was more than just a transaction. Deb believes it was a great steppingstone to build Sara’s confidence for successful financial management in the future.
Knowing that the auto loans are taken care of, Deb can now shift her focus back to doing what she loves—taking care of her farm in Idaho. She is no stranger to connecting with nature and her animals. It’s truly one of her favorite things to do. Spending time in this environment helps to recharge her mind so she can be her best for her clients and others who need her.
The fact that she knows her credit union has her back gives her added peace of mind. In her words, “It feels so good to have this level of partnership with my financial institution.”
Thank you to Deb and Sara Jones for pursuing your financial dreams with us and taking time for what really matters in life!
