The Journey of Jordan Farr and Jared Isom—Building Dreams, Transforming Lives | My Member Story
From installing countertops and cabinets to building multifamily communities, learn how two friends turned their construction expertise into a multifunction business.
In a world often defined by competition and individual success, Jordan Farr and Jared Isom stand out as paragons of partnership, vision and resilience. Together, they created SCS Multifamily, a groundbreaking company that has redefined the multifamily construction industry while inspiring countless others to believe in the power of collaboration, perseverance and self-belief.
A foundation of friendship and vision
Jordan and Jared’s journey began over twenty years ago during their church mission in South Dakota. From the outset, it was clear their connection went deeper than shared faith. Hailing from neighboring towns in Utah and both shaped by working in their fathers’ construction businesses, the duo discovered a passion for building—not just structures, but futures.
Soon after returning home from their missions, Jordan and Jared embarked on individual entrepreneurial paths, each focusing on the finish carpentry skills they had honed from a young age. They excelled in cabinetry and countertop installations, crafting beautiful and functional interiors that reflected their mutual dedication to precision and quality.
Though they initially worked independently, their paths frequently crossed on multifamily housing projects. Their collaboration was seamless, a natural outgrowth of their complementary skills, common vision and enduring friendship. It wasn’t long before they were ready to take their collaboration to the next level—a partnership that would not only build exceptional apartments, but also empower every individual involved in the process.
A visionary leap—The birth of SCS Multifamily
In 2018, Jordan and Jared launched SCS Multifamily—a company they hoped would revolutionize the industry. The idea was to integrate subcontractors as part-owners in their building projects, giving them both literal and figurative ownership of the work. This groundbreaking model fostered unparalleled teamwork, accountability and a shared commitment to excellence. But the two entrepreneurs knew it wasn’t going to be an easy road ahead.
Initially, developers rejected their vision, doubting the unconventional model. Jordan and Jared knew the power of what they were building and refused to let short-term obstacles derail their long-term goals. They leaned on their unwavering belief in hard work, maximum effort and a steadfast commitment to the people around them.
“We are centered around delivering on the promises we create,” Jordan explains. “We believe in transparency, honesty and integrity in everything we do. Whether it’s a business, a project or a relationship, we strive to build something that others can look up to and emulate—not because it’s perfect, but because it’s done with purpose, grit and heart.” Jared adds, “Hard work and determination are non-negotiable. We don’t let people down, and we never give up—no matter the challenge.”
A financial partnership built on belief
While their vision for SCS Multifamily was strong, Jordan and Jared needed more than grit and determination to bring their dreams to life—they needed a financial partner who could share their vision.
Other institutions hesitated, questioning the feasibility of the subcontractor ownership model and the abilities of two relatively new developers. But when Mountain America Credit Union entered the mix, they saw something different—they saw Jordan and Jared, their passion, their integrity and their unwavering commitment to doing things the right way.
“If not for Mountain America, we wouldn’t be here,” Jordan says. “They didn’t just believe in our project—they believed in us. They saw the potential not just of what we were building, but of who we are.”
“Mountain America didn’t just open doors,” Jared adds. “They opened our eyes to what was possible when you have people in your corner who truly believe in you. They gave us the chance to bring our vision to life, and we’ll never forget that.”
Overcoming challenges and achieving excellence
Today, SCS Multifamily has developed more than 1,500 apartment units across the country, transforming landscapes and communities alike. More importantly, they have brought to life the dreams and ambitions of hundreds of subcontractors who, like Jordan and Jared, have discovered the incredible power of building something greater together than could ever have been achieved alone.
Their projects are more than structures; they are testaments to what can be accomplished when integrity, collaboration and vision lead the way.
A legacy of impact and innovation
Jordan and Jared’s success is rooted in more than the apartments they construct. Their innovative model of subcontractor ownership has revolutionized the multifamily construction industry, fostering a culture of collaboration that ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. Their ability to negotiate with general contractors and establish relationships with niche factories has given them a competitive edge, delivering value-engineered solutions that redefine industry standards.
Beyond their professional achievements, Jordan and Jared are builders of opportunity. Their mentorship has inspired subcontractors, developers and aspiring business owners to dream big and work hard. "We’re never as good alone as we are together," Jared emphasizes. This ethos extends not only to their partnership but to every individual who works with them.
Jordan Farr and Jared Isom didn’t just build SCS Multifamily—they built a movement that inspires everyone around them to reach higher, work harder and dream bigger. And through their unwavering partnership with Mountain America, they’ve proven that, with the right people by your side, anything truly is possible.
