If you’re a foodie, you’ve probably dreamed of being a chef. Skyler McCallson definitely falls into that category. Making people happy through delicious, healthy food is something he has been passionate about for a long time.
And the dream begins
For Skyler, having a successful career in the food business took root when he started cooking in a hotel at the young age of 15. It was his experience there that solidified his career path—he knew he wanted to be a chef.
After attending the French Culinary Institute in San Jose, California (now called the International Culinary Center), and many years in the food industry, he honed his craft and set his sights on something much bigger—owning his own restaurant.
Putting his expertise “on the line”
As Skyler and his friends discussed restaurant concepts, Wok the Line rose to the top of the list. He just really liked the idea—and the play on words! A little while later, he decided to go in a different direction—a breakfast joint.
Just when he thought he was on the right track, Skyler had a dream about Wok the Line, and he knew he had to go back to his original plan.
Located in Pleasant Grove, Utah, Wok the Line was born in August 2019 from Skyler’s love for Chinese food and his desire to provide healthy options for people on a budget. With ample experience in restaurant kitchens, he now uses his skills to spread happiness through food.
On this journey together
The fact that Skyler owns his own restaurant comes as no surprise to those who know him. In addition to his immense talent, both of his parents are also entrepreneurs—so he knows exactly what it means to pour your heart and soul into something that’s yours.
And he isn’t alone in this adventure—Skyler’s wife, Hannah, is also his business partner. She runs their second restaurant, Under Wraps, which offers a modern twist on Japanese food including amazing handrolls. Together they are creating something special. The more they can make people happy with yummy food, the better!
