Mountain America Recognized for Its COVID-19 Support, Strong Culture and Member Service

Mountain America Credit Union is committed to helping its members define and achieve their financial dreams, creating a healthy work environment that allows employees to grow and develop and giving back to the community through financial education and charitable giving.

Recently in Utah, Mountain America was recognized with four achievements for its COVID-19 support, strong culture and member service:

  • Healthcare Hero COVID-19 Honorable Mention, Utah Business
  • Gold Level Healthy Worksite, Utah Council for Worksite Health Promotion
  • Best Companies to Work for 2020, Utah Business
  • Best of Business and Professional Services, Best of Iron County

This year brought an even greater need to give back and support employees, members and the community. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the credit union took immediate action to protect and support its employees and members, as well as ease the strain it placed on community members:

  • Mountain America donated 2,500 N95 masks to the Utah Division of Emergency Management and provided nearly 500 meals to the staff at hospitals, health departments, clinics and testing centers across Utah and Idaho.

  • Recognizing more consumers are seeking help, Mountain America expanded its financial education offerings, reaching more than one million consumers this year through private coaching sessions, podcasts, webinars, gamified education, blog features and publications.

  • In 2020, Mountain America donated more than 150,000 meals to food banks in Arizona, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah, and 80 backpacks of food were donated to the Lied Boys and Girls Club through a donation to USANA Kids Eat. During the second annual Month of Caring, employees served at the Utah Food Bank, Idaho Foodbank and USANA Kids Eat.

  • Mountain America moved virtual nutrition and health sessions, financial coaching sessions, workouts, doctor’s appointments and financial seminars to online platforms to support all employees, including remote employees.

  • To protect its members and employees, Mountain America has facilitated remote work where possible and implemented new operational and sanitization measures.
