Dream Team Gives Helping Hand to UVU Women’s Lacrosse Team

Hot on the heels of a successful season, the women’s lacrosse team at UVU is focused on raising the money to get to the WCLA National Tournament.

The Utah Valley University (UVU) women’s lacrosse team, previously an underdog, has risen to new heights this season. They had a focused approach resulting in their most successful season in program history, with a 6-1 record. The team’s remarkable performance has secured them a spot in the WCLA National Tournament.

Transitioning from the D2 to D1 division and lacking financial support from their school, the team relies on student funding to sustain their efforts. Lacrosse Club president Rebekaah Sheperd explained, “We have a fee we all have to pay at the beginning of the season, but if we make it to nationals, the fees we have to pay don’t cover… nationals. So, we all have to fundraise, and if we aren’t able to fundraise, we have to pay out of pocket.”

During a recent practice session, the team received an unexpected visit from the FOX 13 Dream Team and Sharlene Wells from Mountain America Credit Union. Watch the video above to find out the heartwarming surprise they had in store for this deserving squad!
