Utah Business Magazine Honors Mountain America Credit Union’s Trent Savage for HR Achievements
SALT LAKE CITY – On Thursday, Aug. 11, 2022, Utah Business Magazine recognized Trent Savage, chief human resources officer at Mountain America Credit Union, as a HR Achievement Honoree of the Year award winner for his role in changing the way we hire, develop, engage and retain our state’s top talent. As chief human resources officer, Savage is responsible for developing and executing human resources (HR) and talent development strategies that support the credit union’s overall business plan and strategic direction. He also partners with business leaders to provide clear direction and alignment of goals to create a high-performing organization. Since joining Mountain America in 2018, Savage has implemented technology to automate processes, streamlining the credit union’s HR department, as well as improved engagement while allowing team members to participate in strategic consulting with leadership.
“Mountain America is known for its outstanding culture. Trent has played a significant role in helping establish us as one of Utah’s highest performing organizations and a place that people want to work long term,” said Sterling Nielsen, president and CEO of Mountain America Credit Union. “This award is a testament to Trent’s expertise and commitment to elevating the professionalism and status of HR professionals in Utah.”
During his career, Savage has worked for some of the world’s largest, most recognizable brands, including Amazon, eBay and Procter & Gamble. During his time with these companies, he gained expertise in strategy development, executive coaching, leadership effectiveness, organizational design and development, strategic talent management, and team effectiveness.
“I’m honored to receive this award and recognize that none of this would be possible without the dedication and expertise of the entire HR team at Mountain America,” said Savage. “Our team is committed to building a culture that drives innovation, which enables our teammates to serve our members and help them define and achieve their financial dreams.”
In addition to being chief human resources officer at Mountain America, Savage contributes to the Utah business community through a variety of volunteer and leadership positions. He is currently the chair of the Brigham Young University (BYU) HR/OD Advisory Council, a board member for the non-profit Courage Reins, an executive committee member of the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) HR Council and chair of the HR Executive Roundtable in Utah. In these roles, he strives to add value through mentoring and facilitating strategic partnerships. He’s received a number of awards for his contributions to the HR field, including Utah’s HR Disruptor of the year from Utah Business Magazine and the Ascendant Leader award from BYU’s Marriott School of Management.
