Mountain America's Young Money University Tour Visits Colleges in Southern Utah

Mountain America Credit Union continues its partnership with Young Money Media in sponsoring Young Money University, a financial success program for college-age young adults throughout the Intermountain West. This spring, Mountain America’s Young Money University Spring Tour visited Southern Utah University and Dixie State University, teaching more than 100 students, including student-athletes. So far, in 2020, the tour has reached nearly 1,000 college students in Utah and Idaho.

A survey conducted by the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators found that only 40% of students have taken a personal finance class, 41% had not checked their checking account balances in the last year, and less than 45% reported creating or using a budget. The Young Money University Tour provides students with the fundamentals of personal finance, including the importance of investing early and saving.

“Mountain America is pleased to invest in our communities by offering a valuable and life-changing program that allows college students to bridge the gap between education and personal experiences. It is always wonderful, and not uncommon, to hear from students who comment on the incredible impact the program has had in their lives,” notes Tony Rasmussen, vice president of financial education at Mountain America Credit Union. “Providing a strong financial foundation for college students helps promote future financial independence and success.”

"I am thrilled with the high level of engagement and interest from young millennials during the past few months to do money differently for the long haul. Mountain America's genuine financial education mission is the perfect match for the content I share on how to save, spend, manage, invest and give money differently to help you live according to your personal dreams," adds Todd Romer, founder at Young Money Media.

Mountain America’s Young Money University Tour will visit ten more schools in the Intermountain West this coming fall.
