Mountain America Goals Program Donates $6,000 to Benefit Arizona State Sun Devil Club’s Student Athletes
Arizona State’s Sun Devil Club received $50 for every goal made during the 2022-2023 season; $100,000 donated to local organizations through university partnerships this year
In March, Mountain America Credit Union donated $6,000 to Arizona State University’s Sun Devil Club to enhance the academic institution’s student athlete experience.
“This donation supports the Sun Devil Club’s mission of creating a community of engaged and educated supporters to enhance the student-athlete experience at ASU,” said Danny Bellissimo, associate director of major gifts at the Sun Devil Club. “Through this effort, Mountain America is making a positive impact on the ASU men’s ice hockey program and its student athletes. This gift exemplifies a wonderful partnership that continues to grow.”
On Friday, March 10, Mountain America team members presented ASU with a check for $6,000 before a home game at Mullett Arena.
“What the Sun Devil Club does to extend a helping hand to student athletes aligns with our ‘people helping people’ philosophy,” said Sterling Nielsen, CEO and president of Mountain America Credit Union. “Helping people achieve their academic dreams is just as important as supporting their financial dreams.” The National Collegiate Athletic Association, a nonprofit organization, regulates student athletics across 1,100 schools in the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico including in areas of eligibility, recruiting, and financial aid.
In addition to Mountain America’s support of ASU, other recent Mountain America donations to support the Grand Canyon State have included the American Society of Arizona and Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
