Mountain America Offers Scholarship Opportunities to Support Members' Educational Aspirations

Mountain America Credit Union’s 2020 scholarship program supports members making a difference in the community, with scholarships being awarded based on career aspirations and community involvement.

With the average college student graduating with over $28,000 in student loans, scholarship opportunities are an excellent way for students to minimize debt. Most college students do not fully understand student loans, or the impact they will have, with only 15% of students surveyed by EverFi say they are confident they can pay back their debts. 

Mountain America will award $2,000 to three winners of the Mountain America Scholarship, which is available for Mountain America members or their families. One scholarship will be awarded in each of the following categories: community and social service, finance, and technology and trades majors.

“Mountain America is pleased to support our members in achieving their career aspirations by providing scholarships for both traditional education and vocational studies,” notes Sharon Cook, chief marketing officer at Mountain America. “Each year, our applicants continue to impress us with their desire to make a difference and their commitment to community service.”

Applications for the Mountain America Scholarships are available on macu.com/scholarships and must be completed by the student and submitted by April 24, 2020. Winners will be notified, and their names announced on the company website by June 5, 2020. Scholarships presentations will be held in June 2020.
