Racing to Be the Best | My Member Story

Kyle Fletcher bought the company where he had worked for over 10 years. This is why he loves what he does.

If you ask Kyle Fletcher why he does what he does, he’ll say it all began at 13 when he started helping his dad maintain the family car. Practicing on that old 1971 three-door Chevy Suburban is where his passion for all things automotive was born.

When Kyle was 17, he got a job with a local automotive shop that would eventually become Arizona Driveshaft and Differential. After about 10 years, when the owner was ready to sell, Kyle and his wife Stevy took the leap and bought the business.

Today’s Arizona Driveshaft

At its core, Arizona Driveshaft is a company built on helping people. That’s how the previous owner built the business, and that’s how Kyle continues to take care of his customers.

“We provide top quality work and make sure the vehicles are safe and reliable and capable of doing what people like to do,” explains Kyle. “Whether it’s their daily driver or they are competing in that vehicle, we can help.”

Steering toward off-road racing

Arizona Driveshaft has been working on racing vehicles for about 15 years. It started with the Ultra4 cars at the King of the Hammers off-road race event in Johnson Valley, California.

This event is a series of races over multiple days and includes both desert racing and rock crawling. During the event, the area is transformed into the temporary settlement of Hammertown where, in 2022, more than 80,000 people attended.

Fueling the fire

Over the years, Kyle and his company have expanded their reach to both race cars and race trucks, for both off-road and street racing.

The Phoenix valley has become a popular spot for top-ranked truck builders and drivers. Arizona Driveshaft works with several rock crawling, desert and Baja race teams. They do more than just modify and repair the vehicles—they also support the teams at the events.

Soon after he bought the business, Kyle was considering purchasing the building they leased since rental costs were starting to increase. It was at the beginning of the pandemic, and it was difficult to get approved. Even if you did get approved, the time to close on a property was getting more drawn out. He had been working with a large bank but was ultimately denied.

“I had heard from others that Mountain America was the go-to for this kind of thing,” said Kyle. “I got the number, called and, from the beginning, dealt with one guy. It was great!” In the end, he was approved and closed within three months.

It’s the personal touch that Kyle appreciates most. He always has a touchpoint, someone to reach out to who is focused on seeing him succeed. “Mountain America treats me like a person instead of a company,” he says.

Kyle out in the wild

Living in Arizona, Kyle has the unique beauty of the red rock landscape at his doorstep. When he’s not in the shop, you can find him taking full advantage of the outdoors with his family. He loves spending time fishing, hunting, dirt biking and practicing archery with his two sons. Oh, and, of course, rock crawling like a professional!

We are so happy to have helped in the growth of your business, Kyle. We hope to be there as you reach new heights in the years to come!
