Fiuza Motors—The Name Says It All | My Member Story

Building a business isn’t easy. Watch the video to see how this member turned his personal motto into something amazing.

Since he was a little boy in Brazil, Renato Fiuza has been fascinated by cars. He grew up washing them for his friends and family and learning how they work. As a young man, he dreamed of owning his own business one day. He wasn’t sure what he was going to do but he was sure it would involve cars.

Making the journey to the U.S.

Following his dream, Renato went to business school at the University of Utah in 2001. Upon arriving, he quickly realized he needed to buy a car.

His experience during the purchase process was less than ideal—he felt he was treated poorly by the salespeople because he was new to the country and didn’t speak the language. He knew that other people were surely having similar experiences and he vowed to be a different kind of business owner when the time came.

Reaching for the dream

After earning two bachelor’s degrees (marketing and business administration), Renato was ready to start his own business. In 2007, Fiuza Motors was born.

Renato’s goal was to create a dealership where everyone could have an enjoyable car buying experience—regardless of where they are from or what language they speak. Even though he didn’t have a lot of experience as a business owner, he had confidence in himself and what he was building.

The business model from the beginning was to put people first. “It’s always good to make money,” explains Renato. “But it is better to do the right thing.”

Pretty soon, Fiuza Motors became known for taking care of their customers. This core value has never changed—just read their Google reviews!

It’s all in the name

It’s no wonder that Fiuza Motors is a respected business—the name Fiuza is derived from the Latin word fiducia meaning trust and reliability.

He is proud of the company he has built and has passed this method of doing business down to each one of his employees. It’s all about people. Renato explains that, even if they lose money on a transaction, their priority is to cultivate relationships with and take care of their customers.

Moving to Mountain America

Renato feels that Mountain America Credit Union’s values align well with his. He noticed this first time he walked into a branch with a friend. “It was truly a beautiful thing” to see how the employees treat the members.

Based on what he witnessed in the branch that day, he soon moved all of his accounts—business and personal—to Mountain America and has not looked back! “It felt like I was a person,” he says, “instead of another number.”

From a business standpoint, Renato loves being able to reach someone quickly when he has a question or an issue. He always gets fast, capable service with a smile and that warms his heart!

We love being there for our amazing members like Renato! Thank you for your membership and for putting people first! After all, the credit union motto is “people helping people.” We’re a perfect match!
