Honda World—A Family Legacy of Fun | My Member Story

A story about turning your passion into a successful business.

Ron Perry, owner of Honda World, knows motorcycles—he’s been working on them since he was a kid. It all started when he needed a summer job as a middle schooler and he landed a part-time gig at a Honda dealership. From that moment on, he worked summer jobs at various Honda lots in town and learned everything he could about the motorcycle industry.

As a matter of fact, Ron was so fascinated, he decided to open his own business—at just 17 years old! Cycle City specialized in servicing motorcycles and selling accessories, and they eventually began selling bikes.

Fast forward over 50 years. Ron is still just as fascinated with motorcycles and loves being the owner of Honda World. He is passionate about providing people with a vehicle (literally!) to experience such a fun lifestyle and connecting them with a product he believes in.

A family business

Danny Holland, general manager at the South Jordan, Utah, location, entered the industry for the same reasons—he grew up around motorcycles and loves them just as much as Ron.

Twelve years ago, Danny got a job at Honda World to help pay his way through college. He was on the path to become a doctor. But when it came time to choose which medical school to attend, he decided to stay with his passion for motorsports and kept his job at Honda World.

Another reason Danny stayed may have been that he fell in love with Ron’s daughter. He now holds two titles—general manager and son-in-law!

Ron’s whole family has been involved with Honda World. His wife helped him start the business. His six children have all worked in at least one of the two stores he owns—some of them are even partners. It’s pretty clear this family loves everything about motorcycles. They still often gear up and head out on riding trips together. It’s truly a family affair!

What it’s all about

When it comes to what Ron and Danny love the most about this industry, they both agree it’s the memories made riding in the mountains or the desert with the family. In Danny’s words, “The memories that we make are irreplaceable—they’re priceless. You can’t put a price tag on them or the experiences you get when spending time with your family and extended family doing the thing you love.”

A way of life

At Honda World, they live by a philosophy—live life at 212°. What does that mean? Ron explains that water will not boil at a temperature lower than 212°. So if you are not giving it all you’ve got—not reaching that boiling point—then you’re not doing your best. Even one degree can make a huge difference.

Going the extra mile or an extra degree more—personally and in business—is how they live. It’s because of this philosophy that their customers choose Honda World. Whether they need service and maintenance or they are looking for a new vehicle, they know that Honda World will do everything in their power to make it happen. And, when it comes to Honda parts and accessories, Honda World has a very robust selection. Ron says, “There are a few things we don’t carry, but most things we have on site. That’s another reason our customers prefer working with us.”

Partnering with Mountain America

As a business that provides that kind of service to their clients, it makes sense they would demand the same from anyone they do business with, right? That’s where Mountain America Credit Union comes in.

For Ron, it’s the exceptional customer service and “small-town, helpful feel” that Mountain America delivers that make the difference. “When it comes to our relationship with our financial partner, the most important thing is having someone there when you need them—just like a family,” says Ron. “We’ve had that type of relationship with Mountain America for the last eight years.”

Mountain America is proud to work with a company like Honda World. Thanks Ron and Danny—and the whole Perry family—for letting us help you make the world a more fun place!
