Utah Foster Care—Proving That Love Makes a Difference | My Member Story

What do you think about when you think about foster care? After meeting with Mike Hamblin from Utah Foster Care and some extraordinary foster parents, we think of the most loving and compassionate human beings we’ve ever known!

As the CEO of Utah Foster Care, and a former case worker, Mike knows a thing or two about the system, the family struggles, the foster families that sacrifice beyond what should be necessary and the kids caught in the middle.

In this video, you’ll see why the Chalk Art Festival is so important to foster care—even after 20 years. You’ll hear from Mike about what motivates him to stay in this field and continue to make a difference. And you’ll also hear from some amazing foster parents—one who has taken on about 60 foster children (all boys!) as a single parent.

Mike reminds us that the goal of foster care is to work with the parents, help them address issues and then get the kids back with their families. That’s a success.

Joseph Knickerbocker summed it up like this, “Being a foster parent … you don’t get paid and it’s tough, but it’s kind of magical!”

Mountain America Credit Union is proud to work with an organization that believes every child deserves a safe home with a loving family. We can stand behind this mission!
