Hale Centre Theatre Talks Family, Front Porches and Obsessions | Guiding You Forward

It’s not always about financial education in the Mountain America Credit Union podcast lounge. Sometimes it’s just about having fun—and connecting. Like today, when Quinn Dietlein, vice president and executive director at Hale Centre Theatre, stops by to chat.

Watch the video to learn:

  • How the “family farm” got started.

  • What it means to him to experience live theatre after the pandemic.

  • Why HCT’s partnership with Mountain America means so much.

  • The latest frivolous purchase to obsess over.

We’ve all heard how acting is “in the blood.” There’s certainly no shortage of that at Hale Centre Theatre (HCT)—they actually call it the “family farm.” Quinn talks about how his daughter is the sixth generation of Hales to act on the stage. Thanks to some help from Ancestry, they recently found out his great-great-grandmother danced on Broadway!

Another fun fact? In 2021, the first big show to open at the theatre after the pandemic was Les Misérables. During its run, HCT was, at that moment, the only theatre in the world running that show. In the world! Quinn explains how that could possibly be true.

He also talks about why that musical, and coming back after the pandemic, was so important to the community. “People needed that in their soul again. And they needed it shoulder-to-shoulder with people next to them—where your hearts beat at the same time as the story is told right in front of you.”

Quinn talks a little bit about this year’s schedule and dishes on the show he’s most excited to see. Here’s a hint: it’s a quirky love story—you’ll figure it out, if you’re lucky!

This podcast isn’t completely devoid of financial talk—Quinn gushes about why the support from Mountain America is so impactful. “It goes beyond just the financial contribution,” he says. “It’s a thousand small, silent things this place does. The people here want to improve the quality of life for our community. It’s part of this front porch idea.”

Why does Quinn compare HCT to a front porch? Watch the video above to hear his full analogy!

As a member of this incredible, groundbreaking family who has solidified its place in the history of Utah theatre, what more could Quinn want out of life? We’ll tell you—find out his newest obsession!
