Do You Have the Right Type of Insurance Coverage? | Guiding You Forward

You may not be aware of all the different types of insurance that may apply to your lifestyle. Our insurance expert reviews many of the options.

When you have questions about insurance coverage, it’s great to have a professional in your corner. That’s why we are so grateful when Dennis Freire, CEO of Mountain America Insurance Services, stops by the podcast lounge for a chat.

In this discussion, we’re focusing on what types of insurance coverage are available and in what instances you may need to reevaluate your lifestyle to cover your level of risk.

In this video, you’ll learn:

  • How umbrella insurance works.
  • What businesses should consider for their insurance needs.
  • Why asking about discounts is your best bet for saving money.

Dennis explains exactly what umbrella insurance is and how it works. “It’s a generic term for what’s called ‘excess liability coverage,’” he says. “If you don’t have enough underlying coverage, the umbrella policy will kick in and cover more of the claim.” It’s also a good idea to discuss your lifestyle with your insurance agent. Do you like rock climbing and riding ATVs? Are you planning to take the plunge and put in a swimming pool? You may find that you are assuming more risk and, therefore, need more coverage.

Of course, we all know you need business insurance if you own a business. The coverage you need depends on the type of business you have. Do you have a fleet of vehicles? Are customers coming into your store? Be sure to ask questions to make sure you are covered appropriately as a business owner.

Everyone wants to pay as little as possible for their insurance, right? Dennis offers several tips to make sure you’re getting all the discounts you qualify for—talk to your insurance agent! Watch the full video where Dennis mentions a few you may not be aware of.
