Get Prepared to File Taxes

It’s hard to believe, but tax season is here. Hopefully, you’ve kept track of your expenses, receipts and deductions. It’s also smart to make sure you’re aware of the tax law changes that took effect in 2018.

Mountain America Credit Union has a few additional tips before you file your taxes:

Know your financial institution’s routing number—You’ll need this to finalize your return and arrange for a direct deposit on your refund. You can usually find this information on the home page of your institution’s website.

MOUNTAIN AMERICA MEMBERS: Our routing number is 3240 7955 5.

Access your Form 1099-INT—The 1099-INT form is used to report interest payments made or attributable to you—most notably, interest on a loan. The form breaks down all types of interest income and related expenses.

You should receive this form in the mail. If you didn’t receive it or have misplaced it, get a replacement from your financial institution’s website or local branch.

Meet with a financial advisor—Check in with an expert before you file to make sure you don’t forget or overlook anything. Whether you meet with one annually or have never met with one before, don’t skip this important step!
