Mountain America Miracle Makers: Overcoming Adversity

Losing a loved one can take a significant toll on the family left behind. Diane Alexander’s three boys are trying to find their way after she passed away last October after battling multiple forms of cancer. Even though the past several years have been difficult, these brothers loved their mother dearly and truly feel her absence.

Diane’s youngest son, Nick (11), remarks that their mother always tried her best to take good care of them. But money was tight. Christopher (17) says, “I didn’t know if we were going to have food every night.”

The boys are now living separately—the two eldest, Chris and Albert, are living with their football coach so they can remain at their school and Nick lives with his aunt and spends time with his grandmother on the weekends.

Mountain America Miracle Makers decided to step in and bring these three brothers together for a little surprise.

The boys were presented with $1,000 each to spend at Target! After the shock wore off, we saw nothing but smiles as they picked out some fun electronics and much-needed new clothes.
